Gyeonggi-do, Food Safety Day Commemoration Event on the 14th Gyeonggi Provincial Government

On the 14th, Gyeonggi Province held the "Gyeonggi Food Safety Day Event" under the theme "Food Safety 365, Putting Knowledge into Practice" at Dasan Hall in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building.


At the event, Gyeonggi Province awarded commendations from the Governor and the Chairperson of the Provincial Council to 26 individuals who have dedicated themselves to improving food safety within the province and contributed to creating a safe dietary environment.


The province also organized research presentations and a panel discussion. Kim Do-gyun, head of the Gyeonggi Food Safety Policy Support Group, presented the current status of food safety in Gyeonggi and research findings. Additionally, expert lectures on food poisoning occurrence and prevention in complex food systems, as well as a panel discussion on building a food safety culture, were held.


In the panel discussion, chaired by Kim Do-gyun, panelists included Professor Cho Tae-jin from Korea University, Officer Yu Mi-ja from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Team Leader Lee Ju-myeong from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, and Team Leader Yang Jeong-im from CJ Freshway. They discussed various efforts to foster a food safety culture in Gyeonggi Province.


Yu Young-cheol, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Health and Wellness Bureau, stated, "I hope this event serves as a starting point to expand knowledge about food safety and emphasize the importance of putting it into actual practice," adding, "I look forward to taking a step further in ensuring food safety in Gyeonggi Province."


Meanwhile, prior to the main event, Gyeonggi Province, together with consumer food hygiene monitors, conducted a promotional campaign to raise awareness of the importance of food safety by publicizing the three major food poisoning prevention rules that residents should follow.
