Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that "to continue the success of last year's energy transition festival, which was the first in the nation to be hosted by a local government, the 2nd festival scheduled for October this year will be held in the form of an experiential event with large participation from residents and energy-related organizations."
To this end, Nam-gu has decided to publicly recruit resident operation teams and participating organizations to join the 2nd Eco-friendly Energy Transition Festival.
Residents and organizations wishing to participate in the festival can operate exhibitions and experiential programs related to carbon neutrality based on the eight basic principles of the energy transition festival.
The basic principles include prohibiting the use of disposable products, ensuring that the energy used during the festival can be measured with data, and that the minimum electricity consumed is supplied from renewable energy sources.
The resident operation team is open to anyone living in Gwangju or Jeonnam cities and provinces who are interested in overcoming the climate crisis and energy and environmental issues.
They must be able to operate various types of exhibitions or experiential programs at booths that consider ways to overcome the climate crisis, such as carbon neutrality, energy transition, and resource circulation.
Ten teams will be recruited, either individually or as groups.
The target participants for organizations are eco-friendly and energy-related companies or groups located in Gwangju, and they must comply with the eight basic principles.
At the booths, organizations can promote institutions and products aimed at responding to the climate crisis and spreading a culture of practicing carbon-neutral lifestyles; however, booths with political or commercial purposes are not allowed.
The recruitment scale is about 10 teams, and applications for resident operation teams and participating organizations will be accepted until June 5th via visit to the Environment and Ecology Division on the 6th floor of the district office, mail, or the person in charge's email.
After receiving the applications, Nam-gu plans to review their suitability and announce the selection results on June 12th through the Nam-gu Office website and individual notifications.
Meanwhile, the 2nd Eco-friendly Energy Transition Festival is scheduled to be held on October 5th under the theme "Nam-gu, Please Take Care of the Earth," from the Big Expo Green Road Park Plaza in Juwol-dong to the area around Jangsan Elementary School. It is understood that about 4,491 people attended the 1st festival last year.
