Innovative Brand Strategy, Sustainable Branding, Global Design Communication
The global brand consulting company The Bread and Butter Brand Consulting LLC announced that its Peruvian coffee brand development project, Creating a brand for a Peruvian coffee collective, was selected in the marketing consulting company category of the ‘2024 World Changing Ideas’ award recently announced by the world-renowned American business magazine Fast Company.
Fast Company is an American business magazine focusing on technology, business, and design, which annually evaluates and announces companies that have made significant impacts on industries and culture through innovative efforts in various fields.
The World Changing Ideas Awards is one of Fast Company’s major annual award programs, focusing on innovative concepts and social impact creation aimed at making a better world. This year’s winners particularly emphasize sustainability, innovative AI technology, social impact, and creative problem-solving. Out of over 1,300 companies worldwide applying across sectors such as health, energy, technology, politics, climate change, wellness, fashion, beauty, science, and education, a total of 349 companies were selected.
Among them, The Bread and Butter received the honor for outstanding branding and marketing achievements demonstrated through the ‘CUNAVIR’ coffee community brand located in the Villa Rica region of Peru and the organic coffee brand ‘Tierra Fuerte’ produced there. Unlike other coffee brands, this project was comprehensively carried out based on three core values: Environment + Community + Commerce, covering brand strategy, brand naming (in Spanish), brand messaging, brand design, and brand marketing targeting the local Peruvian market.
Fast Company particularly highlighted The Bread and Butter’s sustainable branding efforts. The modular system identity built to ensure the continuous operation of the brand within the CUNAVIR coffee community can be consistently used long-term when expanding the coffee product line. Additionally, sustainability was enhanced through the use of biodegradable packaging and local community branding education.
Jo Sooyoung, CEO of The Bread and Butter, stated, “Through this brand development, the CUNAVIR coffee community has been able to establish a virtuous cycle system that uses all coffee production income for community operations. Moreover, the indigenous community, which previously only supplied coffee beans in bulk, was able to secure its own brand assets, creating a foundation for sustainable business growth.”
The Bread and Butter is a global brand consulting company that started in London in 2004 and was established in Seoul in 2009, marking its 15th anniversary this year. In 2021, it relocated its headquarters to New York, USA, leading efforts to create branding impact in the global market. Since 2018, both its US headquarters and Korean branch have been Certified B Corporation (B Corp) certified companies.
