Yeongyang 100-Year Brewery Makgeolli Festival Successfully Concluded

Yeongyang Brewery, Yeongyang's Representative Emotional Place 'Uttuk' Yeongyang Brewery Makgeolli Festival.

This event, held for the first time during the Wild Vegetable Festival, was organized to promote the Yeongyang Brewery, a representative architectural heritage of the region newly renovated through the Urban Regeneration New Deal project and which has been with the residents for over 100 years, to tourists from all over the country. It also received positive responses by offering enjoyable activities and food.

The event utilized the brewery yard, usually used as a parking lot, transforming it into a modern-style emotional tavern. It featured Yeongyang makgeolli, a local specialty liquor named "Eunhasu," and provided experiences with wild vegetable dishes. Yeongyang-gun estimated that about 15,000 people visited the Yeongyang Brewery (including the exhibition space and Cafe Sopung) during the event period.

A resident of Yeongyang who participated in the event said, "I felt proud and honored as a resident that the dilapidated Yeongyang Brewery was newly renovated and opened for the public to experience at any time." They added, "The emotional tavern in the brewery yard was more beautiful and charming than anywhere else, so I brought my relatives who came to the festival to visit."

A representative from Fermentation Workshop 1991 stated, "During the festival, we produced more than three times the amount of Eunhasu makgeolli compared to last year (about 6,000 bottles), but all were sold out. We will continue production to supply local retailers without any disruption."

County Governor O Do-chang said, "Through this festival, we confirmed another potential of Yeongyang-gun, and in the future, we will strive to further contribute to revitalizing the local economy by utilizing the vacant space of Yeongyang Brewery as a youth startup space."
