The drill was conducted in four stages?'Caution-Alert-Critical-End'?assuming a scenario where the planned flood level of Gunggok Reservoir is exceeded due to stronger typhoons and heavy rains caused by climate change, causing the embankment to overflow and the downstream slope of the reservoir to be eroded.
All employees of the Haenam-Wando Branch divided roles for emergency situations based on the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), including operating the situation room, activating the emergency contact network, and joint restoration of the reservoir with emergency recovery contractors. They also established an organic cooperation system with local residents and related agencies such as the Haenam Police Station and Haenam Fire Station to conduct practical on-site drills for swift response in case of emergencies.
Kim Taeheon, Branch Manager of Haenam-Wando, said, “As the possibility of unexpected disasters has increased recently due to climate change, the drill helped strengthen employees’ disaster response capabilities and check the cooperation system with related agencies. We will do our best to protect the precious lives, property, and safety of the people through thorough prior preparation and proactive response to disaster situations.”
