Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) will hold the 10th Muan Hwangto Mudflat Festival from the 21st to the 23rd of next month at the Muan Hwangto Mudflat Land area in Haeje-myeon.
According to the county on the 14th, the Muan Hwangto Mudflat Festival has been held since 2013 to promote the value of the clean Muan mudflats that embrace life and coexist with human life, as well as the agricultural and marine specialties produced from the nutrient-rich Muan Hwangto (yellow soil).
Muan Hwangto Mudflat Land is designated as Korea’s first wetland protection area, Ramsar Wetland No. 1732, and a Jeollanam-do provincial park. It is equipped with an ecological park, ecological mudflat science center, and marine safety experience center.

In particular, the value of the ‘Black Silk’ mudflat is being promoted, and it is becoming increasingly popular as a place for various experiences and education.
The Muan mudflat was confirmed to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list in April last year, and after domestic inspections and evaluations, it is expected to be finally selected by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in 2026, giving it great significance.
This festival is prepared with rich and diverse content where visitors can learn about and enjoy the ecological and environmental value of Muan’s yellow soil and mudflats, experience sensory stimulation, enjoy healthy food, and witness the magnificent scenery of the Black Silk mudflat.
