Establishment of Centers in All 5 Districts and Counties of Ulsan in the Second Half of the Year
Expectations for Expansion of Women’s Job Connection Services
The Ulsan Ulju Women's New Employment Center has been selected as a final winner in a public contest organized by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and the women’s job linkage service for 'career-interrupted women' is expected to expand.
Ulsan City will have Women's New Employment Centers in all five districts and counties, following the Jungbu Center, Ulsan Center, Dong-gu Center, and Buk-gu Center.
The 'Ulju Center' will be established at the Ulju-gun Startup Job Comprehensive Support Center. It will provide comprehensive employment support for women whose careers have been interrupted due to pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and family care.
The main project involves organizing vocational training specialized in the education, science and technology, and IT fields in collaboration with the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency as a basic course, and conducting internship programs and job linkage services through registration of female job seekers and employers.
The Ulju Center is scheduled to open in the second half of this year after hiring employment planners and vocational counselors.
Jang Tae-jun, Director of the Welfare, Veterans, and Women’s Bureau, said, “Ulju-gun has a continuously increasing female economically active population, and many industrial complexes such as the New General Industrial Complex and High-Tech Valley Industrial Complex have strong demand for workers. We expect significant job linkage effects for career-interrupted women by providing employment support services specialized in the science and technology fields in cooperation with UNIST.”
Last year, Ulsan City operated four Women’s New Employment Centers and linked a total of 4,845 women to jobs. With the opening of the Ulju Center this year, it is expected that more than 5,000 women will be linked to jobs annually.
The women’s job expansion project is a campaign pledge of Mayor Kim Du-gyeom in the 8th local government, and Ulsan City aims to support employment for 21,000 women and 1,150 internships by 2026.
