Guro-gu Holds Dementia Safe Senior Center Plaque Ceremony

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) held a plaque ceremony on the 13th, designating the Guro 2-dong Ahopgil Senior Center as the 6th Dementia Safe Senior Center.


At the plaque ceremony, Guro-gu Mayor Moon Heon-il, Guro Public Health Center Director Moon Young-shin, Chairman Ham Tae-ho of the Korean Senior Citizens Association Guro Branch, and local residents attended, hanging the Dementia Safe Senior Center plaque and spending time communicating with the elderly.


The district operates a focused management program targeting senior centers recommended by the Korean Senior Citizens Association Guro Branch or those willing to participate, to raise awareness and attention toward dementia.


The program includes dementia prevention △lectures △nutrition education △cognitive programs, exercise education △laughter therapy, and after completing a total of four sessions, the senior center is designated as a Dementia Safe Senior Center and the plaque is attached.


Guro-gu Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “I hope the elderly live healthy and happy lives through the Dementia Safe Senior Centers,” and added, “Guro-gu will continue to do its best to foster correct understanding and awareness of dementia through various dementia education and prevention programs.”


Meanwhile, the district plans to expand the number of Dementia Safe Senior Centers from six to 30 this year.
