App Launch Commemorative Fare Discount and Instant Souvenir Photo Event
Pohang City has launched the tourist taxi app ‘Taboso Gwangwang’ featuring easy reservation and an automatic dispatch system.
This app was developed as part of the mobility platform construction project within the smart transportation sector of the Smart City Challenge project, in which Pohang City and POSCO Holdings are participating. After about six months of development, the app demonstration was completed on the 25th of last month.
The Pohang tourist taxi app automates the previous method of manually receiving reservations and managing dispatches through the Pohang tourism website, enabling more efficient operation of tourist taxis. Utilizing location-based services, it helps tourists easily and conveniently meet tourist taxi drivers and travel according to their desired routes.
The Pohang tourist taxi app ‘Taboso Gwangwang’ has been available for download from the App Store since the 14th, and for users who find it difficult to use the app, reservations will also be accepted via phone.
To commemorate the app launch, the city will hold various tourist taxi events. From the 15th to the 26th, a 20% discount event on tourist taxi fares will be held for 12 days, and tourists using the tourist taxis will be provided with one photo each, taken during their Pohang trip, printed instantly in a tourist taxi frame.
Park Sang-jin, Director of the Convention and Tourism Industry Division, said, “As we hold various events to promote the activation of the Pohang tourist taxi app, we hope domestic and international tourists will travel comfortably and enjoyably around Pohang by using the tourist taxis.” He added, “In the future, we plan to promote the tourist taxis through diverse means such as promotional videos and foreign language promotional materials.”
