Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) signed a "Practical Agreement on the Recycling of Timber Resources in Gyeonggi Yongin Platform City" with Korea East-West Power on the 13th.
According to the agreement, GH will remove roots and collect timber after logging, while Korea East-West Power will select intermediate processing companies to transport and process the collected timber by-products and produce Bio-SRF (solid fuel produced using combustible solid waste).
GH expects to reduce the cost of timber waste disposal in Gyeonggi Yongin Platform City, and Korea East-West Power sees this as the first case of securing a supply source of biomass power generation fuel (8,833 tons) capable of continuously producing 200KW of electricity.
Previously, the two organizations agreed through a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on recycling timber by-products generated from various development projects implemented by GH into power generation fuel.
Kim Se-yong, President of GH, stated, "We plan to actively apply this timber resource recycling case between the two companies to other 3rd generation new town development project sites."
