Effects of Dedicated Placement of Medical Benefit Managers and Promotion of Rational Medical Use
Cheonan City in Chungnam Province saved 929 million KRW in medical aid costs last year through customized case management.
Last year, the city identified the usage patterns of hospitals and clinics by 181 medical aid recipients, including excessive outpatient users, and provided customized case management and education.
In particular, four medical aid managers with nursing qualifications were assigned exclusively. They supported rational medical use guidance and the establishment of support systems for medical aid recipients who frequently use medical services due to illness, helping improve their health and financial stability, thereby reducing medical aid costs.
This year, the city plans to implement the "New Medical Aid Recipient Health Checkup Health Plus" project. Through this project, it aims to encourage and monitor national health checkups for new medical aid recipients who are eligible for health screenings, promoting health status assessment, disease prevention, early detection, and improved quality of life.
Lee Sang-soon, Director of the Welfare Policy Division, stated, “We will actively carry out medical aid case management to help medical aid recipients develop self-health management skills and lead healthy lives.”
