Ubivelox announced that it has been selected as the lead research and development institution for a national project on domestic eSIM platform technology development. This national project is led by the Ministry of Science and ICT to promote the distribution, expansion, and commercialization of 5G private networks by domesticizing eSIM platform and testing verification technologies.
A 5G private network refers to a small-scale private wireless network established by general companies, not mobile network operators, using 5G within specific areas such as buildings or factories. Representative businesses utilizing 5G private networks include smart factories, smart farms, smart cities, and smart campuses, where companies build their own communication networks for specific purposes.
Ubivelox plans to domesticize eSIM-related technologies (modules, terminals, servers) that currently rely on overseas technology to enhance domestic self-reliance in security and authentication, expand convergence services based on 5G private networks, and grow the 5G private network ecosystem through the commercialization and distribution of domestic eSIMs.
Kang Jeong-gyu, Executive Director overseeing the Business Strategy Headquarters, stated, “Our company is rapidly expanding its business into areas requiring security and authentication through chip platform-based technology, and we are already supplying our technology and products to various fields such as automobiles, home appliances, wireless chargers, and smart meters. This eSIM platform technology domesticization project is also part of our security and authentication business, and we are making great efforts to expand our influence into all future businesses requiring security and authentication.”
Meanwhile, Ubivelox has shown steady growth every year, and solid growth is expected through preparations for the commercialization of KLSC (Korea Local Smart Card), high demand for flagship products such as Roborock and Lifeon, and preparations for the listing of its map platform affiliate, iNavi Systems.
