Regarding the unification of the candidates from the Democratic Party for the 22nd National Assembly Speaker election, Choo Mi-ae and Jo Jung-sik, Woo Won-sik stated, "It seems this happened because I am the most competitive." On the 13th, on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' Woo said about the unification of Choo and Jo, "It is to check me," adding, "Those who talked about reform and innovation suddenly bring up experience, age, and precedent. It doesn't make sense."

He continued, "This National Assembly is an opportunity given to us because the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's tyranny is too severe," and said, "We must accomplish two tasks: set the country straight according to the general election public sentiment, and revive people's livelihoods."

Woo mentioned his achievements, such as serving as the first floor leader under the Moon Jae-in administration and overcoming a severe minority government, as well as the seven times the National Assembly was paralyzed due to the absence of a transition committee, emphasizing, "I am the right person." He added, "No matter how complicated the National Assembly Speaker election primary is, I will complete it to make the most of the opportunity on the Democratic Party's testing ground." He also explained, "Since I have taken a strong stance so far, it seems they think Choo is suitable to fight the Yoon government. But the National Assembly cannot function on conflict alone. Negotiation and political skills are necessary."

He also emphasized his close relationship with Lee Jae-myung. Woo said, "I am truly pro-Lee (pro-Lee Jae-myung)," and added, "When Lee was running for president, I served as the campaign committee chairman. Lee is the chair of the Basic Society Committee, and I am the senior vice-chairman. The Basic Society represents the future values Lee aims for."
