According to the Associated Press and others on the 12th (local time), the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced in a statement that about 100 Apple Store workers approved the strike resolution in a vote held the previous day.

The union cited the strike background as "over a year of negotiations with Apple management that resulted in unsatisfactory outcomes," unpredictable work schedule practices, and wages not matching the cost of living. The strike date has not yet been finalized. This store was the first Apple store in the United States where a union was formed, back in June 2022.

An Apple spokesperson said in a statement, "We take pride in offering our team members industry-leading compensation and benefits," and added, "We will engage in good faith with the union representing our team in Towson."

Meanwhile, at an Apple store in the Short Hills area of New Jersey, union formation was rejected after a two-day vote that ended the day before.
