Survey 'When Spouse's Strength Becomes Cause of Divorce'
Strengths in Dating Can Also Be Risk Factors in Married Life
Those who have married, divorced, and returned to being single, so-called 'dolsing', showed interesting results in a survey revealing that a spouse's career success or overly refined manners during marriage were actually causes of divorce.
Only-U, a remarriage information company, and Vienarae, a marriage information company, announced on the 11th that they conducted a perception survey on 'spouse's strengths that acted as causes of divorce' targeting 556 men and women nationwide who hope to remarry after divorce.
According to the survey, 28.4% of male dolsing respondents said they felt like divorcing when their spouse was 'achieving great success' at work. This was followed by affinity (25.2%), attractive appearance (20.9%), and active personality (17.9%).

Son Dong-gyu, CEO of Only-U, explained, "When a spouse achieves great success at work and their self-esteem rises, it can create a sense of discord with their partner, and high confidence can lead to taking risks that cause conflicts between the couple."
For women, 29.1% of respondents answered that 'overly refined manners' could act as a cause of divorce rather than a strength of the spouse. This was followed by career success (24.8%), affinity (20.1%), and attractive appearance (17.4%).
CEO Son said, "When men show refined manners in social life, they tend to attract women's attention, which can act as a risk factor in married life."
Meanwhile, regarding 'things considered strengths of the ex-spouse at the time of marriage but acted as weaknesses after marriage,' 32% of male respondents answered 'stylish dressing.' For women, 'versatility' accounted for 33.1% of the answers.
Lee Kyung, General Manager of Vienarae, explained, "People who dress stylishly tend to attract others' attention and it can also be linked to overspending, and being versatile makes it difficult to walk a single path and can easily lead to showing off."
