Creating 'Gwangjin Specialized Garden' as an Urban Retreat Reflecting the Charm of All Four Seasons

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has created the 'Gwangjin Specialized Garden' featuring seasonal characteristics with 24 types of flowers and trees around Jangpyeonggyo in Junggok-dong.

The 40㎡ specialized garden offers a variety of experiences within a small space. At the entrance leading to the Jungnangcheon walking trail, visitors can enjoy various flowers depending on the season. The green evergreen trees provide a sense of stability to viewers.

Trees are spread out around a sculpture representing Gwangjin-gu. Shrubs planted include eight species such as golden false cypress, hydrangea, and Jangsu plum. Along with these, 16 types of ground cover plants like Carex kobomugi, iris, thyme, and lavender harmonize with landscaping stones to display their beauty.

In the remaining space, resting benches have been installed. Their shape is designed to resemble the 'Smile,' the symbol (BI) of Gwangjin-gu, giving a friendly impression. The specialized garden is close to the Jungnangcheon embankment path, and it is expected to become a resting place for many people.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We created a specialized garden that captures the charm of Gwangjin so that people can enjoy small pleasures while walking along the trail,” adding, “I hope everyone cherishes a good mood along with the beauty of nature in the city.”
