Active Participation in Red Cross Humanitarian Movement Recognized for Contribution to Alleviating Human Suffering and Promoting Welfare
President Baekho: "We Will Continue to Grow as a Company Supporting Healthy Development of Local Communities"
Baekho, President of Seoul Metro, received a plaque of appreciation awarded by the Korean Red Cross on the occasion of the 77th World Red Cross Day.
President Baekho was recognized for his contribution to alleviating human suffering and promoting welfare by participating in the Red Cross humanitarian movement.
Last October, Seoul Metro signed a social contribution business agreement with the Korean Red Cross (President Kim Cheolsu) and has been jointly promoting sustainable social contribution projects based on an organic cooperation system.
The agreement includes mutual cooperation in five major areas: volunteer activities, spreading a sound donation culture, blood donation and life protection campaigns, emergency relief activities, and other cooperative projects.
Since March, Seoul Metro has been raising the ‘Metro Sharing and Accompanying Fund,’ a voluntary donation fund by executives and employees, donating a fixed amount every month. The donations are used to support the livelihood, housing, and medical expenses of crisis families in urgent need of assistance.
Additionally, to alleviate the blood supply shortage and practice life-sharing, the company donated 500 blood donation certificates contributed by employees.
Seoul Metro was also recognized by the Korean Red Cross as an ESG practice company for sustainable growth. This confirmed that the company actively participates in social contribution activities supporting local crisis families and realizes humanitarianism based on the spirit of the Geneva Conventions and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement.
Baekho, President of Seoul Metro, stated, “Under the slogan of sharing together and accompanying happiness, Seoul Metro is fulfilling its corporate social responsibility and practicing ESG management through various activities such as donations, volunteering, and blood donation campaigns. We will continue to grow as a leading ESG management company that spreads positive influence to help the healthy development of local communities.”
