BPA Begins Design Service for Expansion of Building Facilities at Singamman and Gamman Pier No. 1 Berths

Busan Port Authority (BPA) has commenced the design service for the expansion of architectural facilities at Singamman and Gamman Piers.

On the 9th, BPA announced that it held a kickoff meeting for the 'Busan Port Singamman and Gamman Pier Architectural Facilities Expansion Design Service' at Jaseongdae Pier to ensure the smooth operation of Korea Hutchison Terminal, which is relocating from Jaseongdae Pier, and to improve the working environment for employees.

BPA plans to invest a total project cost of 11.5 billion KRW to expand six architectural facilities, including a complex building, outdoor parking lot, and worker waiting rooms, at Singamman Pier and Gamman Pier Berth 1 by 2026.

BPA Begins Design Service for Expansion of Building Facilities at Singamman and Gamman Pier No. 1 Berths BPA is conducting a kickoff meeting for the design service of building expansion at Busan Port's Singamman and Gamman docks.

Previously, in November 2023, the architectural planning was completed, followed by a preliminary review and public architecture deliberation by the National Public Architecture Support Center. In April, a design firm was selected through a proposal competition.

At the kickoff meeting, representatives from BPA, Korea Hutchison Terminal, and the design firm attended to share the future service progress plan, discuss key design points, and gather opinions from stakeholders.

Korea Hutchison Terminal, selected as the new operator of Singamman Pier and Gamman Pier Berth 1 through an open competitive bidding last year ahead of the closure of Jaseongdae Pier operations due to the Phase 2 redevelopment of Bukhang, has been gradually relocating since October last year.

The relocation process accelerated as Dongwon Busan Container Terminal (DPCT), the operator of Busan New Port Pier 7, which opened in April this year, returned Singamman Pier.

Lee Sang-kwon, Head of Construction at BPA, stated, “We will promptly expand the necessary facilities within the pier to support stable operations and ensure the successful completion of the Bukhang function relocation plan without any setbacks.”
