30 Billion KRW National Funding by 2027
Expansion of Smart Farms for Pyo-go Mushrooms and More
Buk1-ri Village in Deokjeokdo, Ongjin-gun, Incheon, has been finally selected in the third-stage promotion review of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Island Area Specialization Project.' Accordingly, Buk1-ri in Deokjeokdo will secure 2.4 billion KRW in national funding over three years from next year until 2027, with a total project budget of 3 billion KRW expected to be invested.
The Island Specialization Project supports sustainable island village development by encouraging local residents to utilize various regional resources to promote income-generating businesses and village revitalization activities.
Buk1-ri in Deokjeokdo is a village specialized in shiitake mushrooms, with over 10 years of experience in mountain cultivation of shiitake mushrooms. Since 2022, it has been selected for the second stage of the Island Specialization Project, establishing a shiitake mushroom smart farm house and providing resident capacity-building education.

By piloting indoor cultivation of shiitake mushrooms and starting the first sales during last year's Chuseok holiday, the village has been cultivating four-season smart farm mushrooms, leading to stable income and job creation for residents.
Additionally, the representative brand 'Seom-idameun,' which captures the purity of Deokjeokdo Island, was developed. The 'Seom-idameun Seomsongi Shiitake Mushrooms,' directly cultivated by residents, have received certifications for pesticide-free agricultural products and excellent agricultural product management, and are sold on the online agricultural and marine products shopping mall 'Ongjin Jayeon.'
From next year until 2027, Buk1-ri Village plans to carry out various projects through the third-stage Island Area Specialization Project, including expanding the shiitake mushroom smart farm, operating village experience programs, developing mushroom processed products, building a village brand, promoting marketing, and strengthening resident capabilities to increase resident income and revitalize the island.
An official from the Incheon Tourism Organization stated, "We expect that as the island is revitalized through residents' stable independence and expansion of village projects, young people will move in and the number of visitors will increase."
