[Special Stock] Polaris Office, Apple AI Counterattack Spurs On-Device Expansion... "Will Seize Market Lead"

Polaris Office is showing strong performance. The news of launching on-device office artificial intelligence (AI) software (SW) appears to be influencing its stock price. The first deployment is expected to be on Apple's Mac operating system (OS).

At 2:25 PM on the 9th, Polaris Office was trading at 8,750 KRW, up 11.18% from the previous day.

Polaris Office announced the release of ‘On-Device Office AI for Mac,’ which can be used without an internet connection. They collaborated with AI specialist company Upstage and integrated the large language model (LLM) ‘Solar’ into Polaris Office software.

The AI-equipped office software can be used even on airplanes or outdoors where internet connection is unavailable. It is evaluated to have enhanced security competitiveness by fundamentally blocking the possibility of document and personal information leaks.

A Polaris Office representative said, "As AI is applied in real life, the importance of on-device services that can be used regardless of location is increasing," adding, "Since it can be used as an installable solution even in closed network environments, we plan to diversify customers into B2B (business-to-business) and B2G (business-to-government) sectors and secure market leadership."

They continued, "With advancements in AI chipset technology, the functionality of on-device AI is expected to improve," emphasizing, "We will continue to develop AI features, including AI for Windows Office, to maximize profitability."

Earlier, in March, Polaris Office entered the government-wide AI business by participating in the ‘Korea Artificial Intelligence Computer Alliance (K-APA)’ along with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Intel, and 16 promising AI companies to target the global on-device market.

Apple launched its latest tablet PCs, the new iPad Pro and Air, on the 7th (local time). Tim Millet, Apple’s Vice President of Platform Architecture, explained, "We equipped the powerful next-generation chip M4 for AI," adding, "The Neural Engine and M4 are more powerful than the neural processing units (NPUs) of any AI PC today."

The company added, "Apple’s new product launch is expected to be a catalyst for the spread of on-device AI."
