A venture forum that provides insights on leadership, ethics, and responsibility by solving various problems occurring in the corporate field through Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian was held in Gwangju.

According to the Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association (President Kim Hyun-soo) on the 9th, the 22nd Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Forum was held on the 7th at the Ramada Plaza Gwangju Hotel under the theme "The Functional Relationship Between Talent and Leaders Through Historical Insight."

The forum was attended by about 80 members including Kim Hyun-soo, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association; Cho Jong-rae, Head of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration; Kim Jae-sang, CEO of Chaewoo-ra; and Jeong Chang-yong, Director of Caramela Research Institute.

Professor Kim Young-soo of the Korean Sima Qian Society delivered the keynote speech on the historical cases of Sima Qian and the Records of the Grand Historian, which he has researched for decades, focusing on the functional relationship between talents and leaders and reflection on problem awareness.

He focused on introducing cases of followership and distinguishing between public and private interests through the message of Guanpozhijiao from 2,700 years ago.

Professor Kim explained, "In the relationship between leaders and talents during the Spring and Autumn period, Guanpozhijiao is regarded as the most exemplary and successful case," adding, "Liu Bang, who judged that talent was the decisive factor for success, devoted efforts to recruiting excellent talents and eventually succeeded despite unfavorable conditions."

Also, Jeong Hee-heon, an official of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, introduced the 2024 energy efficiency support project to the members.

A program that offered a glimpse into the growth stories of venture companies and startups also attracted attention.

Chaewoo-ra Co., Ltd., a 3D printing tech startup founded by engineers, is developing technology that can be actually used rather than just 3D printed prototypes, solving manufacturing time, environment, and cost issues in the interior market.

This is a successful case of technology development and commercialization through the Preliminary Startup Package, Youth Startup Academy, and Global Startup Academy.

Kim Jae-sang, CEO of Chaewoo-ra, said, "It usually takes seven days and costs about 2 to 6 million KRW to produce a 2-meter interior signboard. The signboard manufacturing market has also opened up to a price competition market due to product standardization," adding, "In the case of Chaewoo-ra, we produce signboards and sculptures using 3D printers, which can reduce costs by more than 50% compared to traditional methods and quickly produce desired designs."

Caramela, an AI company operating in Gwangju, introduced the AI Gwangju Bus that solves urban problems using artificial intelligence.

Caramela's AI bus information system reflects real-time road traffic information based on weather and road traffic volume, providing estimated arrival times according to the current bus location and road conditions.

It reflects real-time customized adjustments to problems such as inaccurate estimated arrival times caused by road congestion or bus detours. The main features of the service include AI real-time bus location information, dispatch system, and route information change notification system.

Jeong Chang-yong, Director of Caramela Research Institute, said, "Gwangju has become a paradise for passenger cars, where more passenger cars are used than public transportation. This leads to illegal parking, lack of parking spaces, public transportation deficits, and increased carbon dioxide emissions," adding, "We will catch two rabbits?energy saving and environmental protection?through public transportation systems and next-generation intelligent transportation systems using artificial intelligence technology."

Kim Hyun-soo, President of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Venture Business Association, emphasized, "We will devote ourselves more to providing directions for venture company startups and success and revitalizing the local venture ecosystem," adding, "We will actively work to resolve the difficulties faced by small and medium venture companies struggling with high interest rates and high prices."
