Bucheon City Establishes Small-Scale Housing Maintenance Plans for Four Areas Including Geumgang and Gyeongwon Apartments in Simgokbon-dong

Bucheon City in Gyeonggi announced on the 9th that it has finally selected four areas as small-scale housing maintenance management plan establishment zones.

The areas include Geumgang and Gyeongwon Apartments in Simgokbon-dong, Soshabon-dong Shinhak University, Eunbit Children's Park in Yeokgok-dong, and the Simgok Library area in Simgokbon-dong.

Previously, before selecting the small-scale housing maintenance and management plan zones, the city received applications for 17 locations from local residents. On March 1st, the first expert selection committee meeting was held to narrow the list down to seven areas. After holding a residents' briefing session and conducting on-site inspections through the second expert selection committee meeting, four final areas were selected.

These areas are located in the old downtown where there is an urgent need for maintenance due to the risk of collapse on steep slopes, or where it is necessary to renovate aging houses in connection with nearby roads. Areas with densely populated old residential districts that were evaluated as having a high feasibility for development projects were also selected.

The city plans to promptly establish small-scale housing maintenance and management plans for the four selected areas, reflecting the opinions of local residents, and intends to increase the number of managed areas in the future.

Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon, said, "For balanced urban development, it is necessary to systematically manage the old downtown areas," adding, "Through the Bucheon-type small-scale housing maintenance and management plan, which is being carried out for the first time this year based on residents' applications, we will improve the residential environment of the old downtown."
