CreoSG Accelerates Development of World's First AIDS Vaccine... "Combination Therapy Underway"

CreoSG announced on the 9th that its subsidiary ImmunoVaxBio will accelerate the commercialization of the world's first AIDS vaccine, 'SAV001,' by developing a combination therapy vaccine based on the recently launched universal vaccine development platform 'SUV-MAP.'

Combination therapy is mainly used in the development of anticancer drugs. Biotech companies developing anticancer drugs conduct clinical trials by administering them in combination with commercialized anticancer drugs to maximize anticancer effects and minimize side effects by increasing patient response rates.

ImmunoVaxBio plans to maximize the preventive effect of SAV001 against AIDS through a combination therapy strategy. By utilizing SUV-MAP, which applies VSV vector technology, vaccine candidates can be finalized within five months. The company explained that after the primary immune response is induced by administering SAV001, the immune response can be significantly enhanced with the VSV vector vaccine.

SAV001, which is preparing for Phase 2 clinical trials in the United States, is a 'whole inactivated AIDS vaccine' that uses the entire HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) as an antigen. SAV001 is characterized by using the whole virus to maximize AIDS prevention effects and maintain immunity against mutations. In the US Phase 1 clinical trial, antibodies were formed and maintained for a long period, and neutralizing antibody responses against various mutant viruses were also confirmed.

A company official stated, "We chose this combination therapy strategy to increase the likelihood of success in SAV001's Phase 2 clinical trial," adding, "We plan to prepare for the US Phase 2 clinical trial while simultaneously producing SAV001 samples and developing the combination therapy vaccine."

He continued, "We expect that the combination therapy method will not only maximize the immune response of the AIDS vaccine but also minimize side effects," and said, "We will accelerate the commercialization of the world's first AIDS vaccine by conducting research and development in a differentiated way."
