Three Sessions Conducted in Late April with Over 400 Participants, Including Lectures on Roles as Managers
From July, Completion of Training Will Be Reflected in Promotion Evaluations... Leading Gender-Equal Organizational Culture
Kangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 9th that it conducted a total of three sessions (April 25, 26, and 30) of 'Prevention Education on Four Major Types of Violence including Sexual Harassment' for about 400 senior public officials at the end of April.
The district invited Yeom Geon-ryeong, Director of the Korea Institute of Criminology, to provide education on the theme of 'Prevention of Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, and Gender Equality,' covering topics such as 'Types of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace' and 'Cases of Secondary Damage.'
In particular, this education was tailored for senior officials at grade 6 and above (team leaders, department heads, and bureau chiefs), including the district mayor, focusing on 'Roles and Response Measures as Managers.'
Through this, participants were able to learn vivid on-site cases arising from generational perception gaps and lack of communication. Above all, it is expected to serve as an opportunity to prevent gender-discriminatory elements in the workplace and improve an organizational culture of mutual respect and consideration.
Since last year, the district has expanded sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention education for high-ranking officials from grade 5 and above to grade 6 and above. Starting from July, the district will include the completion status of 'Violence Prevention Education' in promotion evaluations for all employees, striving to prevent gender-discriminatory elements in the workplace and foster a gender-equal organizational culture.
Han Mi-jung, Director of the Family Policy Division, said, “We hope this education will contribute to forming a healthy organizational culture and that all employees will be vigilant and take the lead in creating a healthy workplace free from sexual harassment.”
