16 Bus Routes Passing 'Exit 1' Aligned with June Opening
Guseong Station Public Parking Expanded from 169 to 339 Spaces
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 9th that it has prepared a connected transportation plan, including bus route changes and parking lot expansion, in line with the opening of 'Guseong Station' on the Seoul Metropolitan Area GTX (Great Train Express) A Line in June.
The GTX-A line opened the Suseo~Dongtan section on March 30, but the opening of Guseong Station was delayed until June due to the discovery of a large rock formation during the excavation of the 40-meter-deep underground space, causing construction delays from the original plan.
With the opening of Guseong Station, passengers will be able to transfer to buses by moving to the Suin-Bundang Line Guseong Station from Exit 1 of the subway station. Accordingly, the city plans to adjust the routes of existing bus lines and increase the number of vehicles on some high-demand routes to improve transportation convenience.
The city plans to sequentially change the routes of 16 bus lines, including four city bus lines (670, 68, 690, 820) and twelve village bus lines (15-4, 29, 29-1, 30, 34, 35, 36, 80, 49B, 50, 57, 57-2), to pass through Exit 1 of GTX-A Guseong Station.
Additionally, the city will gradually increase one vehicle each on seven lines, including city buses 68 and 77 and village buses 18, 20, 51-1, 53, and 810-2, to reduce intervals between buses. The 810-2 line, which runs between Dongbaek area and Guseong Station, will have two additional vehicles. By the end of the year, a new village bus line 502 (planned) will be established to run between Mabuk-dong and Guseong Station.
The transportation network around Exit 2 of Guseong Station, which will open across the Gyeongbu Expressway by the end of this year, will also be expanded. A new bus stop will be established at the exit, and five currently operating village bus lines (19, 56, 58, 58-1, 58-2) will be adjusted to pass through Exit 2, improving accessibility to the west side of the Gyeongbu Expressway.
For taxi stands, two locations will be operated: in front of GTX Exit 1 and in front of Suin-Bundang Line Exit 2. In addition, the public parking lot in front of Suin-Bundang Line Exit 3, which currently has 169 spaces, will be doubled to 339 spaces.
Lee Sang-il, mayor of Yongin City, said, "With the opening of GTX Guseong Station in June, we have decided to expand the connected transportation network so that citizens can move more conveniently to various nearby places from here." He added, "We will continue to monitor citizens' usage and study additional improvement measures."
