Silicon Valley Visit for Recruitment
One-Week Major Schedule
Focus on 'Immediate Contribution' Talent
Interest in Meeting with MS CEO and Others
Jo Joo-wan, CEO and President of LG Electronics, is boarding a flight to the United States to hunt for artificial intelligence (AI) talent. He plans to visit Silicon Valley to conduct recruitment focused on experienced professionals.
According to industry sources on the 8th, Jo is expected to depart for the U.S. as early as the 9th and spend about a week attending key events. In Silicon Valley, he will hold a recruiting program to discover and attract outstanding talent proficient in AI.
Jo is particularly focusing on finding talent who can be immediately deployed in AI-related projects. As the need for AI technology and skilled personnel rises and competitors accelerate their technology development, LG Electronics is expected to speed up its AI business by hiring such “immediately effective” talent.
Attention is also drawn to the meeting with Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft (MS), scheduled to take place on the 14th (local time) in Seattle, USA. Jo will attend the “MS CEO Summit” and meet Nadella. This will be their first meeting.
The collaboration is expected to be broadly discussed. One of the first ideas mentioned is equipping LG Electronics’ home appliances with MS’s generative AI. LG Electronics, which is energizing the “AI home appliance” competition, is likely to apply MS’s generative AI to enhance the quality of AI services in its products.
In addition, Jo will explain business strategies at LG Electronics’ local investor day (NDR) and tech conferences. Although not on the scheduled agenda, attention is also on whether he will meet Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta. The two previously met in February during Zuckerberg’s visit to Korea, where they discussed collaboration plans in next-generation extended reality (XR) devices and AI fields.
