Gangbuk-gu Operates 4th Industrial Revolution Technology Experience Programs Including Robots, Autonomous Driving, and Coding

Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will operate the 'Career Exploration Future Road,' a program that allows participants to experience technologies related to the 4th Industrial Revolution such as robotics, autonomous driving, and coding, until October.

'Career Exploration Future Road' is an educational program designed to support Gangbuk-gu youth in developing self-directed capabilities and growing into creative and convergent talents in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Last November, the district first operated 'Career Exploration Future Road' targeting 211 middle school students from three schools in Gangbuk-gu. According to a satisfaction survey, 81% of participating students were satisfied with the experience program, leading to the expansion of the education target this year to include all first-year middle school students in Gangbuk-gu.

The education is conducted by visiting the Seoul Nowon Youth Future Career Center 'AND' located in Nowon-gu, where participants select and experience 3 to 5 contents related to the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The contents include nine categories: ▲ Robotics (Alpha Mini motion block coding experience, making a talking ping-pong clock) ▲ Autonomous Driving (autonomous driving robot block coding experience) ▲ Digital Drawing (Wacom tablet line drawing experience) ▲ Coding (coding algorithm gamification experience) ▲ IoT (Modi Plus sensor module creation experience) ▲ 3D Modeling (Tinkercad 3D modeling work creation experience) ▲ AR (Merge Cube augmented reality game experience) ▲ Drone (drone piloting and obstacle racing game experience) ▲ Virtual Experience (tank robot and drone virtual simulation game experience).

Earlier in March, the district recruited middle schools in Gangbuk-gu wishing to participate in 'Career Exploration Future Road' and has been operating the program since April. It plans to provide various 4th Industrial Revolution-related educational experience programs to a total of 1,278 first-year middle school students over 14 sessions until October.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "I hope this program will help young people in choosing their career paths," and added, "We will do our best to create an educational city by continuously introducing education programs reflecting residents' needs, such as university campus tours, future education camps, and parent capacity-building education."
