Gangdong-gu Supports Timely Completion of Dunchon Jugong Reconstruction

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 8th that it will support the timely completion of the Dunchon Jugong Apartment housing reconstruction maintenance project by holding a comprehensive countermeasure meeting with the association, construction stakeholders, the district office, and external experts.

Dunchon Jugong Apartment, located in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, is currently under construction with a target completion date of November this year, consisting of 12,032 households in buildings ranging from 3 basement floors to 35 above-ground floors (construction progress rate 89%). As part of the reconstruction project, construction of maintenance infrastructure such as roads, subway stations (railways), parks, and public land, as well as donation facilities (public library, cultural and social welfare facilities, community service center, police substation) is actively underway.

At the comprehensive countermeasure meeting held on the 24th of last month (with about 60 attendees), the progress status of the apartment and infrastructure construction of the ‘Dunchon Jugong Reconstruction Project’ was shared. During the meeting, difficulties faced by the association and construction stakeholders were heard, and a joint public-private expert discussion and deliberation were conducted to prepare proactive support measures.

The main agenda items discussed included measures to recover the construction schedule delay of the connecting passageway between the commercial areas of Subway Lines 5 and 9, which lagged relatively behind in progress, and ways to ensure the quality of the apartment and donation facilities construction. The district office reemphasized to the association the prompt execution of an agreement with Seoul Metro Corporation to actively manage the construction schedule and requested the construction consortium to thoroughly prepare in advance to minimize defect complaints from future residents.

Additionally, 20 related departments of the district office also directly participated in the comprehensive countermeasure meeting to provide active support. To avoid trial and error as the completion date approaches, they agreed to consult with relevant agencies in advance on their respective duties and to respond swiftly in situations requiring rapid decision-making.

Mayor Lee Soo-hee of Gangdong-gu, who presided over the meeting, stated, “Through this meeting, the association and the district office reaffirmed their responsible roles, and we will unite our efforts to ensure the successful completion and occupancy of the Dunchon Jugong Reconstruction Project this year.”
