Premeditated Crime Involving Preparation of a Weapon
On the 7th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, who killed his girlfriend with a weapon on the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of murder for repeatedly stabbing his girlfriend, Ms. B, with a weapon on the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station on Subway Line 2 around 5 p.m. the previous day.
The police responded to a report that "a man was attempting to jump from the rooftop" and pulled Mr. A back. During the process of rechecking the scene after hearing his statement that he had left a bag containing drugs behind, they discovered Ms. B and urgently arrested Mr. A.
The police also identified circumstances indicating that Mr. A had prepared for the crime in advance, including purchasing the weapon at a large supermarket in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, two hours before the incident and calling Ms. B out.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I committed the crime after hearing that she wanted to break up." He is known to be a medical student at a prestigious university in Seoul who scored a perfect score on the College Scholastic Ability Test.
The police plan to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Ms. B's death while investigating the detailed circumstances of the crime.
