China has called for the Israeli military to halt its attack on Rafah, the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip.

According to major foreign media on the 7th, Lin Zhen, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing, "China expresses serious concern over Israel's plan to besiege Rafah," adding, "Israel must listen to the overwhelming voice of the international community and make every effort to prevent further humanitarian disasters in the Gaza Strip."

The Israeli military took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing early that morning. This crossing is the only passage from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and appears to have cut off the retreat route of Hamas remnants within Rafah.

Spokesperson Lin pointed out, "The disaster caused by the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip for over 200 days is shocking," and said, "This is a test of humanity's conscience." He continued, "War and violence fundamentally cannot solve problems and only fuel hatred," expressing concern that "the international community must play a role."

Lin emphasized the urgent need for Israel and Hamas to immediately cease fire and unconditionally release hostages in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2728. He also added that the Palestinian issue should be resolved politically based on the 'two-state solution.'
