A man in his 20s who secretly filmed hundreds of instances of other men using the restroom in a men's bathroom has been brought to trial.
The Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (Chief Prosecutor Gumiok) announced on the 7th that they have arrested and indicted a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges including violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (illegal filming and distribution using cameras, etc.).
According to the prosecution, A is accused of illegally filming men using the restroom in a men's bathroom 873 times from September 2019 to June 2022.
It is known that A had previously committed similar crimes of illegally filming men using the restroom and was punished multiple times, yet he committed the same crime again.
The prosecution stated that although A attempted to destroy evidence during the investigation, forensic analysis restored the deleted content, revealing circumstances of possession of illegal footage.
A prosecution official said, “We will do our best to support the victims, including seizing mobile devices, providing psychological treatment for victims, and blocking and deleting the distribution of illegal footage.”
