Four organizations located in Gwanggyo Technovalley, Gyeonggi-do, including the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, Next-Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute, and Korea Nano Technology Institute, held a declaration ceremony to reduce disposable products on the 7th and are taking a commemorative photo.
Four public institutions within Suwon Gwanggyo Technovalley, including the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, are taking the lead in reducing single-use products and spreading a culture of practice.
On the 7th, the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency announced that it held a ‘Declaration Ceremony for Reducing Single-Use Products and Spreading a Culture of Practice’ at its headquarters’ Gwanggyo Hall together with the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute, and Korea Nano Technology Institute.
The event included watching a campaign video produced by the agency titled ‘The Greater the Cooperation, the Greater the Effect, For a Better Tomorrow,’ followed by declarations of commitment to zero single-use products by the heads of each institution, and a slogan chant by employees within the complex: ‘Zero Single-Use Products, We Do It Right.’
The main points of the declaration included ▲Practicing prohibition of use and bringing in of single-use products within public facilities in Gwanggyo Technovalley ▲Banning single-use products in grocery stores located in public facilities ▲Establishing a foundation to enhance convenience for tenants and employees to use reusable products ▲Continuous efforts to implement zero single-use products.
According to the agreement made that day, each public institution will use reusable products instead of single-use ones and strive to promote the use of reusable containers in on-site convenience stores, restaurants, and coffee shops.
They also agreed to mutually cooperate to spread the practice of using reusable products in daily life and to build Gwanggyo and Pangyo Technovalley as zero single-use product zones in Gyeonggi-do public facilities.
The agency expects that this agreement will enhance the image of Gwanggyo and Pangyo Technovalley as leaders in zero single-use products and achieve effective carbon neutrality practices in daily life.
Previously, the four public institutions have banned bringing single-use products into their buildings since this year, installed tumbler washing machines to encourage employees to use tumblers, promoted the use of reusable cups in grocery stores, and provided information on restaurants near the complex that use reusable containers, making multifaceted efforts toward zero single-use products.
Kang Seong-cheon, head of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, said, “Zero single-use products is not an obligation but a necessity, and the more we do it together, the greater the effect. We will take the lead in reducing single-use products proactively with public institutions in the complex for a better future in line with Gyeonggi-do.”
