On the 2nd, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk held a completion ceremony for the Goryeong County Sports Complex in Kwaebin-ri, Daegaya-eup, and officially began its operation.
With a total project cost of 20.8 billion KRW (3.3 billion KRW from the national government, 1.6 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 15.9 billion KRW from the county), the building is a three-story structure with a total floor area of 3,991㎡.
It is a multipurpose indoor gymnasium where various sports events such as basketball, volleyball, and badminton can be held indoors.
Goryeong-gun plans to expand the insufficient sports facilities through the construction of the gymnasium to improve the living sports conditions for residents and to foster the sports industry by attracting various competitions on a national tournament scale.
To reduce facility maintenance costs, eco-friendly solar alternative energy has been applied, and the gymnasium is equipped with 800 spectator seats and convenience facilities for the disabled to enhance user convenience.
Lee Nam-cheol, the governor of Goryeong-gun, said, “We have prepared a space where not only professional athletes but also club members and the general public can interact and communicate with each other. We will take the lead in revitalizing local sports and creating a young and dynamic image of Goryeong.”
