SK Shielders Collaborates with KB Aju and Newbility for Commercialization of Autonomous Patrol Robots

Establishing Patrol Robot Services Suitable for Residential Safety

SK Shieldus announced on the 7th that it will collaborate with comprehensive building management company KB Aju and autonomous driving robot service company Newbility to commercialize autonomous patrol robots for apartment complexes.

To this end, the three companies signed a business agreement on the 3rd. Through this agreement, SK Shieldus and Newbility plan to introduce patrol robots jointly developed by them into apartment complexes managed by KB Aju. The goal is to present services suitable for residential safety by linking with ADT Caps' unmanned security technology and infrastructure.

The autonomous patrol robots for apartment complexes will be responsible for residents' safety without security gaps even during late-night hours and security guard break times, thanks to their 24-hour autonomous driving function. They will also continuously patrol designated areas to minimize security blind spots.

The AI CCTV installed on the patrol robots accurately distinguishes and recognizes various objects such as people and vehicles. When suspicious individuals or emergency situations are detected during patrols, the robots issue warning broadcasts on-site or quickly respond by connecting with the control center.

In addition, to contribute to creating a pleasant residential environment, the development of real-time detection functions for issues occurring in residential areas such as ▲illegal parking and stopping ▲illegal dumping of garbage ▲illegal storage is also under consideration. In the future, after consultation with apartment residents, the patrol robots will also serve as guide robots that notify about no-smoking and restricted access zones.

The three companies plan to cooperate with the goal of establishing and commercializing the service within the third quarter of this year. Lee Sang-min, CEO of Newbility, said, "Newbility's patrol robots can autonomously drive safely day and night even among large-scale high-rise apartments, which are representative residential types in Korean cities. They are designed considering the efficiency and usability for both the managers who directly use the service and, further, the residents who encounter the robots within the complex." He added, "Through this collaboration, we will make every effort to ensure that the robots enhance safety within apartment complexes and ultimately contribute to improving residents' quality of life."

Jang Woong-jun, Vice President and Head of Physical Security Business at SK Shieldus, said, "We plan to actively utilize accumulated patrol robot data to implement autonomous patrol robots customized for apartment complexes," and added, "We will do our best to lead a safe residential environment where apartment residents can live with greater peace of mind."
