Eunpyeong-gu Operates 'Legal Home Doctor' Legal Consultation for Vulnerable Groups for 11 Years

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it has been operating the 'Legal Home Doctor' project for 11 years this year, which started in 2014 to assist residents who have difficulty accessing legal services.

The 'Legal Home Doctor' is a 'visiting legal doctor for ordinary citizens' system that provides primary free legal services to socially and economically vulnerable groups. It targets recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, lower-income groups, people with disabilities, crime victims, single-parent families, national veterans, and those in welfare blind spots.

A lawyer affiliated with the Ministry of Justice is stationed at the Eunpyeong-gu Office to provide legal consultations, information, guidance on litigation methods and procedures, and connections to legal aid organizations.

Vulnerable groups in need of legal welfare services can receive help through consultations on various everyday legal matters such as claims and debts, labor relations, wages, inheritance, wills, divorce, parental rights and custody, compensation for damages, personal rehabilitation, and bankruptcy.

Consultation applications can be made by phone reservation in advance, followed by a visit to the Legal Home Doctor consultation room on the 3rd floor of the Eunpyeong-gu Office annex. For disabled or elderly individuals with mobility difficulties, the Legal Home Doctor lawyer can provide on-site consultations at nearby community service centers or welfare centers.

An official from the district stated, “So far, Legal Home Doctor consultations have mostly involved disputes related to debts or leases, as well as divorce and inheritance consultations. The Legal Home Doctor is a reliable helper that supports vulnerable residents who find it difficult to resolve legal issues on their own by providing solutions and procedures. It can greatly assist in dispute resolution and maintaining a stable life.”
