‘Geumcheon G-Valley Love Gift Certificate’ First Regular Issuance at 5 PM on the 8th
Issued 1 Billion Won Monthly, May Issuance at 5 PM on the 8th, From June Issued at 11 AM on the First Friday
Payback Event for Users Spending Over 100,000 Won Monthly to Promote Gift Certificate Consumption
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that starting May 8, it will be the first autonomous district in Seoul to issue the ‘Geumcheon G-Valley Love Gift Certificate’ regularly every month and hold a payback event.
The ‘Geumcheon G-Valley Love Gift Certificate’ is a mobile local gift certificate issued to promote consumption within the region and increase sales for small business owners.
Until now, the district issued the gift certificates only during specific periods such as holidays or Family Month. Since there was inconvenience in having to wait a long time until the next issuance when the certificates sold out, the district changed to a monthly issuance system starting this year.
From May to December, a total of 8 billion KRW will be issued, 1 billion KRW each month. In May, issuance will be at 5 p.m. on the 8th, and from June, issuance will be at 11 a.m. on the first Friday of every month. Individuals can purchase the gift certificates at a 5% discount within a monthly limit of 500,000 KRW, and also receive a 30% income deduction benefit during year-end tax settlement.
To purchase and use the gift certificates, users must newly install the revamped ‘Seoul pay+’ app updated last month. The ‘Seoul pay+’ app includes added features such as expanded card companies available for payment, combined payment with autonomous district and metropolitan gift certificates, and immediate restoration of gift certificates after purchase cancellation. The gift certificates can be used at about 7,700 affiliated stores in the region, including cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, and hair salons.
Additionally, to promote gift certificate consumption, a payback event will be held for those who use more than 100,000 KRW worth of gift certificates each month. Through a random draw, 1,000 to 2,000 people will receive a 10,000 KRW ‘Geumcheon G-Valley Love Gift Certificate’ every month.
Besides the monthly regular issuance, the district will additionally issue holiday gift certificates around this year’s Chuseok. The scale and timing of issuance are undecided and will be separately announced on the Geumcheon-gu website once confirmed.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We changed to monthly regular issuance so that more residents can use the ‘Geumcheon G-Valley Love Gift Certificate’ without being restricted by timing, and we hope many will use it. We expect that the payback event will further activate gift certificate usage and provide practical help to both small business owners and residents.”
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Geumcheon-gu Office Regional Economy Division or the Seoul pay+ call center.
