Choo Kyung-ho Announces Candidacy for Floor Leader Election... "Will Restore Reputation as a Competent Policy Party"

The Third Declaration of Candidacy Within the Party

Choo Kyung-ho, a member of the People Power Party, announced on the 5th that he will run for the floor leader election. He is the third candidate within the party following Song Seok-jun and Lee Jong-bae.

In a statement released that day, Choo said, "I am running for the floor leader election to devote all my efforts to restoring the People Power Party's reputation as a competent party for the people's livelihood and policy, and to transform it into a party loved again through politics that resonates with the people."

Choo added, "Since the 22nd general election, our party is currently facing a very serious situation. I will gather the passion and wisdom of the members to make the People Power Party a competent party for the people's livelihood, a policy party, and a party that resonates with the people."

Choo previously served as Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination. He also served as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.

The People Power Party's floor leader election management committee will accept candidate registrations for one day and hold the primary election on the 9th.
