Busan City will operate the ‘2024 First Half Marine Leisure Sports Tourism Program’ every Saturday and Sunday from May 11 to July 7 at seven beaches in Busan, Suyeonggang Naru Park, and the Yeongdo Amir Park area.
This year’s ‘Marine Leisure Sports Tourism Program’ is composed of a ‘Marine Healing Program’ set against the backdrop of Busan’s representative tourist resources, the sea and rivers, and a ‘Leisure Experience Program’ where participants can enjoy both leisure activities and the night view of Suyeonggang River with LED kayaks.
The city has been operating the ‘Marine Healing Program’ since 2021, reflecting the recent trend of healing tourism gaining attention for mental and physical healing and health promotion amid aging population and the rapid increase of chronic disease patients.
This year’s ‘Marine Healing Program’ will focus on four main activities: ▲Beach Earthing (barefoot) Nordic Walking ▲Sunset Pilates ▲Singing Bowl Meditation ▲Beach Yoga. In addition, new activities such as ▲Hula Dance ▲Gong Sound Bath ▲Fundamental will be introduced to provide more diverse and unique experiences than last year.
Early registration until May 10 allows booking at a 50% discount, and participants who submit reviews will be entered into an event to receive cafe beverage coupons.
Detailed information such as schedules for each program can be found at ‘Busanhaeyangchiyu.kr’.
Also, from May 10 to 12, a three-day ‘Starlight River’ (Starlit Suyeonggang) LED kayak experience event will be held at Suyeonggang Naru Park.
The kayak experience event, held for one hour from 7:30 PM after sunset, is a unique experience combining night tourism and water leisure, designed to offer a special night tourism experience harmonized with the lights of Centum City downtown.
The experience section covers the Suyeonggang River from Jwasuyeonggyo Bridge to Suyeong Intersection. Over the three days, a total of 420 participants, after receiving water safety education, will paddle LED-equipped kayaks along the river and enjoy the beautiful night view of Suyeonggang River illuminated by LED lights.
For detailed information about the experience, please refer to the website of the Korea Maritime Youth Corps Busan Federation.
Program registration can be made at the program reservation website ‘Busanhaeyangchiyu.kr’. Participants are recruited on a first-come, first-served basis, and on-site registration will be available if the number of applicants is insufficient.
The participation fee for the Marine Healing Program is 10,000 KRW each, and the Starlight River LED kayak experience costs either 5,000 KRW or 10,000 KRW.
Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of Busan City, said, “Busan is an attractive city not only for its sea but also for the rivers flowing through the downtown area. We will do our best to discover and operate year-round marine leisure tourism content so that Busan’s beaches and the Suyeonggang area can become places of rest for citizens and tourist attractions where various experiential activities are possible.”
