Jeon Jin-suk, Elected Representative of Gwangju Buk-gu Eul, "Welcomes Passage of Itaewon Special Act"

Jeon Jin-sook, the elected member of the National Assembly for Buk-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, welcomed the passage of the Itaewon Special Act in the plenary session on the 2nd, saying it "marked the first step toward uncovering the truth."


In a press release on the 3rd, Jeon said, "The passage of the Itaewon Special Act was made possible thanks to the bereaved families' magnanimous agreement to the revised bill," adding, "I will deeply reflect on the bereaved families' words that the future is even more important."

She continued, "From the Sewol Ferry disaster to Itaewon, I feel an immense sense of responsibility for the social tragedies that have struck young people," emphasizing, "It is fortunate that this summit meeting has led to a progressive outcome."


She also pledged, "We must improve the national system through thorough and complete investigations to prevent such disasters from recurring," and added, "I will not forget that protecting the safety and lives of the people is the duty of the state and the responsibility of politics."


Meanwhile, Jeon has consistently advocated for the Itaewon Special Act as the first bill of the 22nd National Assembly, stating, "159 young people collapsed in the heart of Seoul, yet no one has taken responsibility."
