Installed 6 Months Ago, Air Quality Tested 3 Times
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) announced the 'Modular Classroom Management Guidelines' on the 3rd, following the implementation plan for a comprehensive air quality survey of modular classrooms.
The Office of Education establishes a student placement plan at least one year in advance and completes the installation of modular classrooms six months before use.
To completely eliminate harmful substances that cause sick building syndrome, air quality inspections will be conducted three times before the full use of modular classrooms: 'after modular classroom installation,' 'after equipment installation and bake-out,' and 'final inspection before use.'
In particular, the bake-out process inside modular classrooms will be repeated until there are no air quality issues.
Modular classrooms will be arranged based on user feedback, prioritizing rooms with lower student usage frequency. Air quality inspections will be strengthened from biannual sample surveys to comprehensive surveys, and parents will be allowed to participate during modular classroom inspections.
Additionally, companies with a history of delivery delays or air quality non-compliance within the past year will be excluded from contracts for the next two years, strengthening the selection criteria for contractors.
New constructions, extensions, renovations, and remodeling buildings will also manage air quality according to standards equivalent to those for modular classrooms for at least three years.
Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “The implementation of these modular classroom management guidelines will secure the safety of school users, including air quality, and enhance the trust of education consumers. The Office of Education will do its best to provide students with a safe and comfortable educational environment.”
