Foreign media such as the British BBC recently reported that images of two naked male tourists sitting on a desert dune called 'Big Daddy' in Namibia spread on social media (SNS). 'Big Daddy' is a massive sand dune standing 380 meters high, located in Namibia's Namib Naukluft National Park. This place is a popular tourist destination frequently visited by family groups. Standing at the summit offers a fantastic, picture-perfect view, attracting many explorers and photographers.

In such a place, two naked men were seen walking around. According to authorities, they had already left Namibia. Their nationality and other personal information were not disclosed. The Namibia Tourism Board, after reviewing the photos, stated, "(The photos in question) are very disgusting and only create a bad image of Namibia," emphasizing, "We are deeply shocked by this incident. The tourists violated the rules and regulations of the national park." They added, "People must abandon the idea that 'anything is allowed' in African countries."

Authorities warn "No naked walking"… "What does it matter?" vs. "Actions stemming from discriminatory thoughts"

A local media outlet pointed out, "Tourists visiting the famous sand dunes of the national park were very shocked when they encountered naked people," and urged, "Authorities need to take measures against those who treat the site like a 'nude beach'." The Namibian Ministry of Tourism warned, "Those who attempt to walk naked in the national park may be banned from entering the park, and if they engage in 'very shocking' behavior, it may be considered indecent exposure punishable under local law." They also requested, "Visitors should report any such illegal acts to the authorities immediately."

Following the authorities' 'warning,' debates arose both locally and internationally. On X (formerly Twitter), some defended the tourists, saying, "(The tourists who took naked photos) did not harm anyone," and "Is sunbathing wrong?" However, others criticized the act as "an insult to the heritage site" and "behavior stemming from discriminatory thoughts that Africans can be treated however one wants."
