Nowon's Attractions and Festivals Become Everyday Content... One-Day Classes Opened at Nowon Village Media Support Center for Residents Unfamiliar with Video Production... Communication Strengthened with Diversified Promotion Strategies Created Together with Residents
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will hold the 1st Nowon-gu Video Contest.
The contest aims to expand promotional touchpoints that showcase the charm of Nowon through YouTube videos, which have become common even among non-professionals, and to secure high-quality promotional content created from the perspective of the residents.
Under the theme "Show Nowon, the Fun City," a total prize of 25 million KRW, including 10 million KRW for the grand prize, will be awarded. Anyone in South Korea can participate individually or as a team.
Eligible videos for submission include ▲ hidden attractions of Nowon ▲ various cultural events and festivals held in Nowon ▲ daily life in Nowon, welfare programs, or benefits experienced while living in Nowon?essentially stories about Nowon that participants want to introduce.
The submission process is simple. Participants upload videos or shorts with the hashtags '#NowonGuContentContest #NowonGuOfficeMiHongssi #NowonGu' on their personal or team YouTube accounts as public, then register the URL on the online submission page without submitting separate files.
For general videos, works between 1 minute and less than 5 minutes can be submitted, and for shorts, works under 1 minute are accepted. The district allows unlimited multiple entries to encourage diverse and creative submissions.
To broadly capture Nowon’s daily life, which changes with seasons and locations, the submission period is generously set until October 20. However, videos filmed in locations requiring prior permission or drone footage must comply with regulations and obtain approval from relevant authorities to be accepted.
For residents who wish to participate but have no video production experience, training will be provided to help them become video creators through the contest. The "One-day Video Production" course, covering basic theory, shooting techniques, and editing practice in a single day, can be registered for on the Nowon Village Media Support Center website.
Submitted works will be evaluated through online and offline judging based on creativity, completeness, and viewer response, with winners announced in November. One team will receive the grand prize of 10 million KRW, and awards from grand prize to encouragement prize will be given separately for general videos and shorts. Even those not selected for awards will receive participation prizes for 100 teams, encouraging confident submissions regardless of professional video production experience.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “This contest was prepared to better discover and communicate the charm of Nowon, the fun city, based on the residents’ sensibility and creativity. We will actively expand cultural events and healing spaces so that so-called ‘YouTube-worthy’ moments overflow, creating a city where residents’ daily lives become content.”
