According to the ?lys?e Palace, President Macron had lunch with Prime Minister Kishida, who visited France to attend the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the partnership between the two countries.

AI is one of the fields that the two leaders are particularly interested in. France is preparing to host the 2nd AI Safety Summit in Paris at the end of this year or early next year. It is expected that the creation of an "International AI Organization" based in Paris will be proposed at this event. Prime Minister Kishida also took the lead in creating international AI norms by spearheading the "Hiroshima AI Process" during last year's G7 summit.

The ?lys?e Palace also reported that the two leaders discussed industrial cooperation in the private nuclear and space sectors, as well as cooperation in science, technology, and culture. Additionally, ahead of the UN Ocean Conference to be held in Nice, France, in June next year, they exchanged views on issues such as the conservation of forests and oceans in Papua New Guinea, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the situation in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, President Macron will make a state visit to Germany for three days starting on the 26th. According to the German presidential office, this is the first state visit by a French president to Germany in 24 years since then-President Jacques Chirac in 2000. During this visit, President Macron will attend the 75th anniversary of the German Basic Law (constitution) and the 35th anniversary of the East German Peaceful Revolution, and will receive the Westphalia Peace Prize awarded to individuals dedicated to European integration.
