On this day, Mokwon University also announced its commitment to continue the university's centennial vision under the slogan "70 Years of Educational Dreams, 100 Years of Innovation."
The starting point for Mokwon University's next 100 years is educational innovation. The university currently supports career and curriculum design using 165 major modules and is expanding small-unit degree programs such as AI convergence micro-credentials.
There is a fundamental intention to nurture future-oriented convergence talents by breaking down traditional barriers between departments and majors to broaden students' educational choices.
Using the 'Global Shared Campus (GSC)' as a stepping stone, the university is also enhancing its global competitiveness. The Global Shared Campus is a comprehensive cooperation system where domestic and overseas universities go beyond simple exchange cooperation to open and share curricula, educational resources, and facilities with partner universities. Since last year, Mokwon University has been establishing Global Shared Campuses with prestigious universities in China, Mongolia, Vietnam, and other countries.
President Lee said, "We will strengthen cooperation with local governments, regional innovation institutions, and other universities to ensure that university innovation becomes regional innovation, raising the level of mutual openness to the highest standard. We will make bold investments and support so that Mokwon University can achieve world-class competitiveness."
Meanwhile, Mokwon University opened in May 1954 as the Methodist Daejeon Theological Seminary. The school name was changed to 'Mokwon College' in 1972 and then to the current 'Mokwon University' in 1993 when it was promoted to a comprehensive university.
