Gyeongnam Tourism Foundation Holds Contest Until July 29
Total of 10 Winning Works Selected... Planned for Use as Recommended Courses
A creative walking travel course development contest will be held to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Dadohae region in Gyeongnam. The Gyeongnam Tourism Foundation announced on the 3rd that the “My Pick! Namhaean Walking Travel Course” contest will be held until July 29.
The walking travel courses are themed around day trips or 1-night 2-day stays connecting walking trails and local tourist resources along the southern coast of Gyeongnam, including Changwon, Tongyeong, Sacheon, Geoje, Goseong, Namhae, and Hadong. Participants can recommend a single course by combining walking sections on the Namparang Trail and other southern coastal walking routes with food, places to visit, natural scenery, and other surrounding tourist resources. The walking trail information must include the Namhaean walking course route, estimated time, difficulty level, and basic information such as restaurants, convenience stores, and restrooms.
Nearby tourist attractions along Changwon Namparang Trail courses 6 to 11 include Jeodo Skywalk, Masan Robot Land, Jinhae Botanic Museum, Yeojuacheon Stream, Junam Reservoir, Jinhae Dream Road, and Cheonmasan Hot Springs. Near Geoje Namparang Trail courses 16 to 27 are Wind Hill, Oedo Botania, Deokpo Beach Zipline, Geoje Sea World Aquarium, Prisoner of War Camp Historical Park, and Hakdong Black Pearl Pebble Beach.
Anyone can participate individually or as a team. The contest will select a total of 10 winners through expert judging and on-site inspections. The grand prize (1 winner) is 1,000,000 KRW, the excellence prize (1 winner) is 300,000 KRW, the merit prize (2 winners) is 100,000 KRW each, and the encouragement prize (6 winners) is 50,000 KRW each. The winning entries will be used as recommended walking travel courses representing the Namhaean coast of Gyeongnam.
The first round of judging, held in July, will evaluate compliance with submission requirements, completeness, and originality. The second round will verify the feasibility of the travel courses through on-site inspections. The results are scheduled to be announced in August.
Hwang Heegon, CEO of the Gyeongnam Tourism Foundation, said, “We planned this contest with the hope of sharing the charm of the Namhaean coast, a natural treasure of Gyeongnam, with more people.” He added, “As walking travel is gaining worldwide attention, we look forward to travel courses that showcase the breathtaking scenery of the Namhaean coast.”
