The Republic of Korea Air Force 1st Fighter Wing (hereinafter '1st FW') held the 53rd and 54th Commander Change of Command Ceremony on the 2nd at the base auditorium, presided over by Air Combat Command Commander Kim Jun-ho, with key regional officials and military personnel in attendance.

On this day, newly appointed Commander Kim Jung-soo (Brigadier General (pending), Air Force Academy Class 45), who received the unit flag symbolizing command authority from the Air Combat Command Commander, will undertake the role of the 54th Commander of the 1st Fighter Wing, responsible for defending the southwestern airspace of the Republic of Korea and training the strongest elite fighter pilots.
Commander Kim Jung-soo graduated from the Air Force Academy Class 45 and was commissioned as an Air Force Second Lieutenant in 1997. He has held key positions including Commander of the 17th Fighter Wing Air Operations Group, Director of Command Management Division at the Air Force Headquarters Secretariat, and Administrative Officer at the National Security Office.
In his inaugural address, Commander Kim Jung-soo stated, "I feel infinite honor and heavy responsibility to be inaugurated as the 54th Commander of the 1st Fighter Wing, which shines with history and tradition. Based on adhering to fundamentals and principles and complying with regulations and procedures, I will accomplish the primary mission while ensuring flight safety and ground safety."
Meanwhile, outgoing Commander Brigadier General Byun Sung-eun, who successfully completed missions such as the first introduction of the TA-50 Block 2 and combat command inspections, has been promoted to Chief of Staff of the Drone Operations Command.
