Hyundai Green Food, a comprehensive food company affiliated with Hyundai Department Store Group, announced on the 2nd that it has opened the third branch of the Italian premium grocerant ‘EATALY’ on the basement first floor of Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do.
Eataly is a food brand established in 2007 in Turin, Italy, based on the slogan ‘Eataly is Italy.’ It currently operates 50 stores in more than 20 countries worldwide, including Italy, the United States, Canada, and Japan. The newly opened Eataly Jungdong Branch is the third store in Korea, following Hyundai Department Store Pangyo Branch and The Hyundai Seoul.
Eataly is characterized by its ‘grocerant’ format, which combines a grocery store and a restaurant. It sells Italian ingredients that are hard to find domestically and offers restaurant and caf? spaces where customers can experience various Italian food cultures such as steak, pizza, pasta, and coffee.
The Eataly Jungdong Branch has a store size of approximately 668㎡ (about 202 pyeong) and actively applies ‘planterior’ (plants + interior) to provide an atmosphere that feels like enjoying high-end dining in a natural space. It is located in the connecting passage between the department store’s food hall and the MZ generation specialty hall ‘U-Plex,’ enhancing accessibility for customers of all ages.
Additionally, the restaurant space consists of a spacious area with a total of 146 seats and includes a private dining room operated by reservation only, which is expected to serve as a community space for local customers.
At the dessert store, various dessert menus are offered, including beverages from ‘Caff? Vergnano,’ one of Italy’s top three coffee brands, and handmade gelato produced directly in the store. Furthermore, the grocery section offers over 600 products, including Italian ingredients such as pasta and olive oil that are difficult to purchase domestically, authentic Italian butter cookies ‘Torcetti,’ and wine.
To commemorate the opening of Eataly Jungdong Branch, Hyundai Green Food is running various promotions including discounts until the 31st. Popular menus such as couple and family sets are sold at a 30% discount from the original price, and a lucky draw event offering meal discount coupons is held. Also, customers who purchase over 60,000 KRW in the grocery section will receive an eco bag, and wine purchasers will be given a wine opener exclusive to Eataly.
A Hyundai Green Food official said, “We plan to introduce various experiential contents such as ‘Eataly Night’ and ‘Wine Gala Dinner,’ where customers can enjoy unique Italian culture and food and beverages together,” adding, “We will continuously introduce new menus and contents to establish Eataly Jungdong Branch as a representative food and beverage space in the western metropolitan area.”
