Ulsan City to Host 'This Year's Children's Day Grand Festival'

‘Dream City Ulsan, Recycling Expedition Team and Jupjup Playground’ Subtitle

May 5 at Ulsan Grand Park South Gate Plaza... Commemoration Ceremony and Waste Art Exhibition

Ulsan City has prepared a variety of events to celebrate the 102nd Children's Day ceremony and experiential activities.

On the 5th, starting at 10 a.m., Ulsan City will hold the "2024 Ulsan Children's Day Grand Festival" at the South Gate Plaza of Ulsan Grand Park, with about 20,000 participants including children, families, and citizens.

The event will include the unveiling ceremony of the Junk Art Imagination Space exhibition, reading of the Children's Rights Charter, awards for exemplary children, congratulatory performances, and experiential activities.

At the exemplary children awards, two children including Lee Do-young will receive the Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation, and 15 children including Choi Hyung-wook will receive the Mayor's Commendation.

For contributions to child welfare, Lotte INEOS Chemical will receive the Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation, and six individuals including Shim Jae-hee from NH Nonghyup Bank will receive the Ulsan Mayor's Commendation.

Post-ceremony events will feature various congratulatory performances such as magic shows, rhythmic jump rope, Taekwondo demonstrations, and string ensembles.

The 102nd Ulsan Children's Day Grand Festival, under the subtitle "Dream City Ulsan, Recycling Expedition Team and Jupjup Playground," will showcase 22 junk art pieces made from used car parts from Ulsan's key automobile industry, along with experiential zones including keychain making from car waste parts and recycled flowerpot crafting.

Additionally, there will be career experience booths featuring police officers, firefighters, flight attendants, and traditional Korean medicine doctors, as well as 4th industrial revolution experience booths and public interest booths with virtual reality (VR), drones, and AI caricatures.

A city official stated, "This Children's Day event has prepared over 20 interesting and educational experiential programs throughout the South Gate Plaza of Ulsan Grand Park under the themes of Dream City Ulsan, Recycling Expedition Team, and Jupjup Playground. We plan to make it a valuable time for children to nurture their imagination and dreams through diverse experiences."
