Gyeonggi Province will increase the number of West Sea Nuri ferry trips operating between Daebudo, Pungdo, and Yukdo in Ansan City for visitors to the island areas.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 2nd that from May 3 to October 9, the number of West Sea Nuri ferry trips will be increased from once a day to twice a day.
Accordingly, starting from the first week of May, anyone will be able to take the passenger ferry from Bangameori Port in Daebudo, Ansan City, to Pungdo in the morning and return the same afternoon on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays every week.
The additional ferry service will also make it more convenient for residents of Pungdo and Yukdo to visit hospitals, purchase daily necessities, and visit family and relatives on the islands.
Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Agricultural, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Gyeonggi Province supported 100 million won in operating expenses for the West Sea Nuri ferry to enable increased trips in order to improve living conditions in marginalized island areas and revitalize fishing village tourism."
