Overall Champion 'Yeosu', 2nd Place Suncheon, 3rd Place Yeonggwang... Next Year's Host 'Jangseong-gun'

The 32nd Jeollanam-do Disabled Sports Competition concluded its three-day grand event with a closing ceremony on the 1st. The two major sports events in Jeonnam, which had been vigorously prepared over the past year, were successfully completed.

Held from April 29 to May 1 across Yeonggwang-gun, this competition saw the participation of over 5,000 athletes and officials from 22 cities and counties in the province, competing in 21 events. Under the slogan "Unfold the Dream of Hope in Great Yeonggwang," the teams showcased a stage of friendship and harmony.
The closing ceremony featured pre-event activities including promotional videos for Yeonggwang-gun, Jeonnam Province, and the next host Jangseong-gun, along with trot music congratulatory performances.
The main event proceeded with highlights of the competition events, announcement of results, overall awards, closing remarks, lowering of the competition flag, handing over the flag to the next host Jangseong-gun, farewell speeches, declaration of closure, and extinguishing of the flame.

The overall championship was claimed by Yeosu-si, who stood atop the podium. Suncheon-si took 2nd place, followed by Yeonggwang-gun in 3rd. The Achievement Award for cities and counties with significantly improved results compared to last year was given to Yeonggwang-gun, the Encouragement Award to Jangseong-gun, and the Model Team Award to Yeongam-gun. Hwang Sang-jun from Yeonggwang-gun, who won three gold medals in athletics, was honored as the Most Valuable Player.
The host, Yeonggwang-gun, ranked 3rd with a total of 27 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and 30 bronze medals across all events. This was their best performance ever, improving from 4th place in the 31st competition, proudly upholding the host's honor.

Organizing Committee Chairman Kang Jong-man said, "Regardless of winning or losing, all the athletes who showed beautiful competition are true winners," adding, "This competition elevated the pride of Jeonnam residents and Yeonggwang citizens and laid the foundation for Yeonggwang-gun to leap forward as a leading sports city."
He continued, "Marking the Year of Visiting Yeonggwang, it was a meaningful time to widely promote the value of Yeonggwang's thousand-year cultural heritage," and expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank the Jeonnam Disabled Sports Association officials who worked hard to operate the competition, the volunteers who were the flower of the event, and all the citizens who actively supported the successful hosting of the competition."
